Educational programs: a path to conscious care for nature

At Kuialnytskyi National Nature Park, we believe that environmental culture begins with education. That is why experts from the scientific department and the ecological education department develop thematic educational programs aimed at fostering environmental awareness across different age groups.

Purpose of educational programs

Educational programs are structured plans of lessons, activities, and teaching materials that reveal current environmental topics through the lens of the local nature.

Their goals are to:

  • Make environmental knowledge accessible, engaging, and lively;

  • Promote responsible attitudes toward nature;

  • Deepen understanding of the value of Kuialnyk Estuary’s natural heritage;

  • Show how individual actions can impact the environment.

How programs are developed

Each program is created by park specialists considering:

  • Age characteristics of the target audience (students, university students, teachers, community members);
  • Educational needs and skill levels of participants;
  • Current environmental challenges of the region;
  • Combination of scientific approach and interactive methods.

Programs include:

  • Theoretical modules (lectures, presentations);
  • Practical activities (excursions, field observations, games, quests);
  • Creative tasks (drawing, creating informational materials, videos);
  • Ecological campaigns (clean-ups, greening, spreading knowledge within the community).

How educational programs are used

Park educational programs are applied in various formats:

  • In schools and lyceums — as supplementary lessons or themed weeks;
  • In higher education institutions — as practical classes, student projects, or part of internships;
  • At the park’s visitor center — during tours, interactive events, and meetings;
  • During field trips — directly on park territory to study nature in action;
  • At public events — as part of environment days, campaigns, and forums.

Our educational programs are more than just knowledge. They are a step toward harmonious coexistence with nature, fostering love for the homeland, and inspiring the desire to protect it.
