During a field expedition, researchers from the Kuialnytskyi National Nature Park discovered a fascinating plant — the Snowdrop Anemone (Anemone sylvestris). This species is included in the list of regionally rare plants of the Odesa region and is protected in many other regions across Ukraine.
The anemone was found in late April on the slopes of the Kuialnytskyi Estuary, tucked away in a small gully among shrubs. At the time of discovery, the blooming stage was just beginning, with most plants still in bud. This species is known for its large, striking white flowers, which give it a distinct decorative appearance compared to typical steppe flora.
This discovery is significant for expanding the Park’s official floral inventory and documenting new habitats for this rare species in the Odesa region. The presence of the Snowdrop Anemone underscores the rich biodiversity of the Park and the vital importance of protecting these natural areas.
