Kuialnytskyi National Nature Park is fascinating in every season. Here, you can plan a full-day walk or relax with your whole family on the estuary’s shore. Being outdoors surrounded by picturesque landscapes improves mental and emotional well-being and helps foster a responsible attitude toward nature.
Spring in Kuialnytskyi National Nature Park is colorful and changeable. For photography enthusiasts, it’s a great time to capture images of plants and insects or hold a photoshoot on the estuary’s shore.
In summer, you can come to Kuialnyk Estuary to swim, sunbathe, and watch birds. During the warm season, the estuary turns pink, and drying areas become covered with a layer of salt. The best way to enjoy these magical views is by hiking or biking.
In autumn, the steppe slopes of Kuialnytskyi National Nature Park are painted in bright yellow and red colors.
In winter, when there is snow, you can find yourself in a true winter fairy tale and see the tracks of various park inhabitants.
The park’s territory has significant historical and cultural value: the first settlements near Kuialnyk Estuary date back to the beginning of the 1st millennium BC. After the estuary separated from the sea, the water’s salinity began to increase. As a result, in the Middle Ages, the estuary became a large salt production site, the remains of which can still be seen near the city of Odesa and the village of Korsuntsi. In 1833, the famous mud resort was founded, now called the Pirogov Clinical Sanatorium (Kuialnyk Resort). During your visit, we recommend exploring the historic sanatorium buildings, which unfortunately are currently in poor condition and need reconstruction. Additionally, while traveling through Kuialnytskyi National Nature Park, you can visit the local history museum in the village of Illinka, see the oldest pear tree in Ukraine near the village of Adamivka (a local botanical natural monument), and the St. John the Theologian Church in Severynivka village (an architectural monument of local significance).
The park area is also a resort of national importance. Many people come to Kuialnyk Estuary for health and wellness. Mud therapy, bike tourism, bird watching, and the historical and cultural uniqueness of the territory have great potential for developing tourism in Kuialnytskyi National Nature Park. Kuialnyk Estuary is also known as the lowest point in Ukraine. For tourism development, ecological trails, tourist routes, and recreational zones are being created and equipped, where every visitor can get information about the special features of this protected area and enjoy a nature walk.
